Our Sponsored Sleep-out aims to raise funds to prevent debt; avoid evictions and the threat of homelessness brought about by Universal Credit.

The basics

Where: Citizens Advice Flintshire, Cable Street, Off Tuscan Way,
Connahs Quay, 
Flintshire, CH5 4DZ

When: Saturday 23rd March – Sunday 24th March 2019

Timings: Doors open at 7 pm to 7 am

Cost: £10 Entry + sponsorship

Since the introduction of Universal Credit, we have seen an increase in debt, evictions, homelessness, and often a deterioration in our clients’ general health and mental well being. We need your help as we are raising funds to pay for trained advisers to provide often complex advice to those struggling with this complicated benefits system.

The price of entry is £10.00 per person. All we ask is that you set up a Just Giving page and raise as much sponsorship money as possible.

What to bring:

A torch 
Gloves, Hat, Scarf  
Thermal under layers 
Outdoor Waterproof Shoes, Boots or Wellies
Roll mat / Cardboard
Cash as food will be on sale

Necessary Medication  
Outdoor Equipment and Clothing     
Warm/Thermal Sleeping Bag, ideally a 4 seasons sleeping bag suitable for winter conditions
Waterproof Outer Clothing (Jacket, Trousers) 

Spare Waterproof Clothing
Empty Flasks/Hot cups (bring these empty on arrival, we will provide free hot drinks)

– Please note there are no tents allowed at the event – this is an under-the-stars experience-

– Please do not bring valuables to the event-  

What is provided onsite:

Food options where you can buy hot, tasty food  
Free hot drinks throughout the duration of the whole event  
Indoor warming station
Medical & Welfare Services   

Prohibited Items:

Food & Drink as this will be provided or sold with proceeds as charitable donations
Drugs (illegal substances or legal highs)

Weapons & firearms
Smoke Bombs
Amplified music

After the event:

Please help us by using bins provided and clearing up your immediate sleep
zone space before you depart the event

Please do not leave your outdoor kit behind when you leave the event
The event accepts no responsibility for lost or stolen property

Medical Notes:

If you are on any medication for an existing condition, make sure you take your medication with you in adequate amounts for the duration of the event
If you suffer from any pre-existing medical conditions, regardless of severity, please consult your GP before signing up
If approved by a GP to attend with a medical condition, please make sure you have written information detailing your condition and any medication required

Any person under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult

In the event of cancellation, your initial donation and any/all subsequent donations are non-refundable and will go to the charity (Citizens Advice Flintshire 1090010), however, we will endeavour to put on an alternative event in a reasonable time frame
